Following the release of the disposable bag cooler by Châteaud'Eau and Ebac in 1994, Dieau unveiled the first direct chill cooler in 2000. Direct chill uses a direct connection with no tank and is equipped with an ice bank system for delivering a continuous flow of cooled water. The main advantage of direct chill is that there is no stagnant water at ambient or room temperature. This sets Dieau's system apart from all other water coolers. Hence it is 100% hygienic e because it avoids any hand contact.
To chill the water, we use both an ice bank and a cooling liquid which circulates through a pump controlled by a thermostat placed on a stainless steel tube. The ice calorific capacity, which is 80 times higher than that of water, ensures a high cooling capacity and consequently a continuous flow of water between 6°C and 12°C. The evaporator makes cylindral ice inside the ice bank. The ice level is controlled by a thermostat. When you fill a cup, the bottled water goes through the stainless steel coil. When the bottled water is circulating within the stainless steel coil, the pump goes to seek some chilled calories on the ice bank and therefore, refrigerates the bottled water contained within the stainless steel coil.
